About Us
Our History

The motto of the Broken TeaPot TeaParlour is "A Cup of Humour with a Sense of Tea". When you visit, you will understand why.

For many years we have operated a successful interior design business, retail store and picture framing gallery. It seemed like a good idea around 1987 to add a tea room to the mix.  Not one to give up so quickly on a dream, we finally opened the tearoom in May 2004.  Okay, so it took a while but God is all about teaching patience. We noticed a lot of other tea rooms and bistros had these fluffy stuffy names so you would know that when you got there you had to keep your pinky in the air. "Pooh!", we said. We want a name that sounds as quirky as we are. And by the way, the pinky in the air thing is just plain pretentious...you need all your fingers to hold on to that teacup...its HOT, stupid!

We now serve some 70 different teas from all over the world and will be adding more as time goes on and/or customers request their favorites. We also have ethnic coffees which we change with the seasons. What started out as an idea to serve tea with sweets and savories quickly turned in to much more. We serve at least one lunch special every day along with our bistro style lunch menu.  In addition, we serve special breakfasts to our business customers while they hold a morning meeting in our dining room, bridal brunches and lunches and private evening dinners for those wishing to celebrate a special event or any excuse to get together. Our "red hatters" and "ladies in waiting" love having the whole place to themselves for an evening. Parties of 6 or more can also arrange a true afternoon tea. (We'll even polish the silver!) Or you can just come by for a 'cuppa' with a biscotti, scone or a decadent dessert to wile away the afternoon. Our smart lunch customers are also figuring out that if they call by 2 pm, we will pack up the daily special and hold it for them to pick up by 6. All they have to do is grab a couple of plates and take credit while the loving 'other half' enjoys a 'homecooked' meal. It sure beats a cold sandwich or a tv dinner. Its slow food to go fast!

If we can help you in any way to play make believe and enjoy a little elegance and tradition, even if you're just taking a break from yard work, stop by and make yourself at home.

In early 2006 we moved The BrokenTeaPot as well as our retail operation and added Five Fifteen North Main Fine Dining to our repertoire locating in The Historic Thomas Cox House (c. 1902). By early 2008, and just in time, it turned out, we decided to close the retail business and put all our focus on The Teapot.

To this day, we continue to evolve and change without compromising our comittment to using the freshest and highest quality ingredients. Our dedication has always been and will remain to doing a little bit well...not a lot lousy! We give you our best and we are honored to serve you.
